It reminds us about a forgotten whiskey style that is now generally associated with scotch: peated single malt whiskey. Blackpitts is an area behind the distillery with a long history. Many industries used to operate there and once there were malting houses, that made peated malt. Teeling Blackpitts is a bit different than most of the scotch peated whiskies. It was distilled for three times which hides the medical aromas but unfolds hints of barbecue. Initially, it was aged in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in sauternes wine casks. By the way, these casks were used to mature Teeling 24 YO - the World's Best Single Malt Whisky of 2019 at World Whiskies Awards.  In the flavour and aroma of Balckpitts, you might find hints of smoke, cloves, toffee, orange peel, honey, fried pineapple, peach or salty caramel.
