Ichiro’s Mizunara Wood Reserve

It is a Japanese whisky, matured in Japanese Mizunara oak barrels. It is a blended malt whisky, but the label says it is pure malt. “Pure Malt” is an old name for the category that Scotch Whisky Association doesn’t use any more. However, Ichiro Akuto, the founder of the company thinks otherwise and calls it however he wants. It is not clear, which single malt whiskies they use in the creation of this expression, but one might guess that it might be Chichibu and Hanyu. Hanyu is a closed Japanese whisky distillery, and whiskies from there are in high demand around the world.
