Long Pond Vale Royal 12 YO 2006 VRW

VRW are initials of an old Jamaican rum distillery, closed in 1959. It is there on the label because two celebrities of the rum world joined their forces to make a rum in that old fashion. Wedderburn is one of the four original Jamaican rum styles, where the number of esters has to be 200/300 grams per hectolitre of pure alcohol. But for this release, they used the number more common to the old distillery, which was 150/250.

This bottling is a blend of 11 oak barrels, distilled in traditional double retort pot still from sugarcane molasses. It is aged for 12 years and has lost more than 60 percent due to the angel’s share. This rum is a real treat for every rum geek.
